Chief of Defense Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam has stated that in order to properly raise our children parents must demonstrate good values, such as working in unison with others.
He made the statement delivering the keynote address at Hiriya school annual prize day.
Shiyam noted that he had seen such values, especially working with others, from the parents of Hiriya school students and congratulated them.
In his speech, Major Shiyam stated that all students have to prioritize on improving Islamic values and respecting parents, as well as attaining knowledge. He encouraged students to obey and respect teachers. He said that knowledge from books was not enough preparation for the real and urged students to take part in the school’s extracurricular activities.
Major Shiyam noted that even though Maldives was a small nation we have proven ourselves to be remarkable and respected on a global scale. He also noted that it was the responsibility of the future generations to carry out that good name and that it was the responsibility of the parents to create such a generation.
He added that one failure should not be taken as a total defeat but as room for re-evaluation and to make a fresh attempt on the endeavor.
