President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has inaugurated the newly upgraded Vilimale’ Hospital. The new hospital is a now a third tier hospital.
Speaking in the ceremony held Sunday evening, President Yameen stated that even though the hospital is now a third tier hospital, the Government will seek to expand the services of the hospital to the same standard as that of IGMH.
He noted that as there were many citizens in Vilimale’ who require dialysis treatment, the service will be introduced sometime this year in the hospital.
President Yameen added that even though there was a slight delay, the opening of the new hospital was part of his presidential pledge. He also added that his Government will seek to improve health sector services as soon as possible.
President Yameen stated that the Government had initiated super specialist program in order to give more healthcare options to the public. As such, he said that the Government was seeking to bring in specialists from the most medically advanced nations in the world.
