Parliament will benefit from public interest bills: Faisal
Kaashidhoo Member of Parliament Faisal Naseem has stated that by passing the public interest bills the whole of the Parliament will benefit, in spite of who had submitted the bill.
Faisal said that each MP was an individual with a special set of privileges, which were universal to all MPs. He added that blocking bills by members from certain parties was an act of discrimination. He also added that every MP was elected by the public and equal before the law and such discriminatory acts was saddening. He said that such actions restricted the duties of the MPs.

Faisal said that the credit of every public interest motion and bill passed by the Parliament will not be attributed to one Member, but rather the whole Parliament. He also said that the credit will also be attributed to the Government and added that such opportunities cannot be passed up.

With the changes to Parliament procedures, bills and motions on public spending can only be submitted by Members from the ruling party. MPs of the opposition had objected to the motion.
