Vilimale’ Constituency MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has stated that the passed Health Service Bill will resolve many issues facing the sector.
MP Nihan stated that the biggest issue facing the sector was the lack of trust from the customers on the quality of service provided. He stated that this Bill will set out benchmarks and quality control measures for hospitals, health centers and private health care providers. The Bill, MP Nihan said, has decreed that failure to meet the quality measures would earn penalties for the health care institution.
MP Nihan said that every Maldivian seeks out medical treatment from foreign nations, via Aasandha, Madhana or other options and in the process spending many amounts of money in foreign nations. He cited that this was a grave issue both locally and financially. Nihan noted that this impacted the functioning of the economy and the Health Ministry.
