Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) President Hassan Luthfee has stated that media plays a vital role in halting corruption.
He said that search had shown that both companies and individuals were more hesitant of media portrayals rather than a punishment in such a case. He also said that media reports of such crimes were more detrimental to the said business or individual.
Therefore, Hassan Luthfee said that it was vital that the Commission work in alliance with the media to promote integrity and halt corruption. ACC had unveiled their media plan.
Research also had shown that the media was very active in reporting corruption cases were proven. However, according to the research, the number of cases that are actually tried had dipped due to the lengthy investigation and implementation process.
The research especially noted that ACC had failed to implement the measures that Auditor General had offered in major cases.
