President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that principles of nationalism must be maintained for development to flourish.
He made the statement delivering the key note address at the closing ceremony of “President Yameen 2018” election forum held to train campaign leaders.
President Yameen stated that a nation cannot thrive on a flourishing economy alone. He said that leaders of the nation had to maintain and adhere to nationalism sincerely. He noted that this is applicable especially on an international platform, citing that Maldives had been at the mercy of regional forces in the past 10 years.
President Yameen also said that nationalism and preservation of national identity is paramount for national development.
