This year’s Veterans Milo children’s football tournament has recorded a success, with 27 teams from 26 schools taking part in the tournament. All of the participants are from grade one and lower. Some schools have included boys and girls in the squads.
Speaking to Miadhu, a tournament official reported that the aim of the tournament was to include students from more grades in the next tournament. He said that talented players were being discovered from the tournament and if they are not discovered earlier, then they are missing out on more years of training.
The tournament is fully sponsored by MILO, with all expenses, except for shoes, being covered by the brand.
Many coaches have said that if proper training was provided to children they will be able to compete on a national level and possibly land a spot in the national team.
The tournament is held in Henveiru stadium. The tournament was concluded on Saturday.
