Nazim transferred to jail after medical treatment
Former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim has been transferred back to house arrest after receiving medical treatment in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Speaking to Miadhu, a relative of Nazim stated that Nazim was brought to Male’ on Saturday without informing his family. He added that the only information revealed to the family was that Nazim was shown to the internal medicine wing and that no additional information on Nazim’s condition was revealed.

Nazim’s family had expressed grave concerns over injuries to his eye, which doctors from IGHM state has to be treated from abroad. The family had filed for the request to take him abroad as well as a motion in Civil Court, but the state is yet to respond to the request.

Maldives Correctional Service reported that officers in charge of transporting patients for medical checkups were not eligible to issue information. The Service also stated that any request for information on inmates have to be submitted to the Service.
