Actions previously not enacted cannot be implemented now: Vice President
Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has stated that any action that was previously not enacted cannot be implemented now.

He made the statement in reference to the claims made by opposition MDP that they were removed from power by a coup. He said that other nations had threatened various forms of intimidation but none of those measures were enacted and that he was sure that no such situation will arise again.

He made the statement speaking in the question answer session of the symposium held by ruling PPM to train campaign managers for 2018 Presidential elections.

He further said that former President Mohamed Nasheed was running a media circus with celebrities. Adeeb added that various individuals had submitted cases to UN Working Groups on nations such as India and Bangladesh. He further said that the decree issued by the Group was not legally binding for the nation.

He noted that most of the nations had not responded to the cases sent to Group. However, he noted that the Maldivian Government had issued a strong statement with the assistance of their international lawyers and will keep on their path to progress inspite of the decision issued by the Group.
