Saudi embassy open to Maldives, Madivians: Thoriq
Saudi Arabia’s chargé d'affaires Thoriq Khaddham Al Fayiz has stated that the doors of Saudi embassy in the Maldives will always be open to Maldives and Maldivians.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to mark the 85th national day, Thursday night in Paradise Island Resort.

“The seeds of cooperation (between the two nations) were planted more than a century ago. Since that day, the two countries have worked closely together to expand relations through a variety of cultural and economic programmes as well as cooperation and coordination in various areas and at all levels. These relations have leapt forward steadily to forge a strong partnership in maintaining peace and prosperity,” the chargé d'affaires said.

Thoriq said that Saudi Arabia will always extended cooperation to Maldives in cultural, economic, social and education sectors.

“Saudi Arabia and Republic of Maldives has agreed on the development and the promotion of trade and the expansion and improvement of investment between two countries and to invite the private sector in both countries to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in them and the continuation of the Saudi Development Fund to finance development projects in the Republic of Maldives, including consideration in contribute to the financing of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport expansion and to development of Hulhumale’ project,” he said.

He noted that the two nations had always respected the other nation and always worked for the mutual benefit.

It has to be noted that the Saudi assistance to the country is at an all-time high.
