Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee has stated that national development must be prioritized over personal development.
He made the statement in the key note address delivered in the prize day ceremony of Ahmadhiyyaa School, held on Saturday night, in Dharubaaruge.
He said that previous years had been extremely turbulent and now the focus was on economic development and economic self-sufficiency. Dr. Shainee said that if national development was not prioritized then the vision for the development cannot be realized.
He added that the Government will have to relinquish power after the tenure expires. Dr. Shainee said that it will always be the youth who will chart and progress the path for development. He stressed the need for decisive action and in taking risks, noting that there will be times when failure was inevitable. He said that any failure will have to be taken as lessons for future and a change in direction.
Dr. Shainee said that this Government had proven that they had proven skeptics wrong with hard work and dedication towards goals and urged the students to learn from such examples. He also urged students to be true to their personal goals.
Dr. Shainee added that academic success was not the only vital aspect. He said that practical experience and hard work were more valued. He urged students not to hold grudges.
