MTCC apprenticeship and scholarships handed over
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has handed over scholarships and apprenticeships, as part of the company’s efforts to train employees.

Seven individuals were given apprenticeship slots for the company. MTCC reported that the apprenticeship program was run under the Government’s apprenticeship program, “Apprenticeship program for special needs”, which is run for individuals with special needs. The company added that this was part of the company’s social responsibility to ensure that an all-inclusive work environment.

The seven apprentices are currently under MTCC employment.

MTCC Managing Director Ibrahim Abdu Razzaq Haleem said that those who completed the project successfully will be given permanent positions in the company.

The Human Resource Development program has been in operation since 2000. At the time it was briefly halted in 2009, the program had trained over 40 personnel. The company reported that 90 percent of those who had completed the program is still company employment. Haleem said that the program was halted due to the financial losses faced by the company in the period and the administrative delays.

This year the Directors Board had passed to restart the project and this year 14 recipients were given the opportunity. The apprenticeship programs were handed over by CEO Haleem and fully funded scholarships were handed over to the recipients by Chairperson Hussain Salim. Associate degree and diploma scholarships were handed out by Deputy Managing Director Ahmed Faseeh. Certificate level scholarships were handed over by Human Resources and Administration Department’s Executive Suzan Haneef. Degree programs were awarded by chief guest, Mohamed Saeed.

Aabidhaa Rasheed, who had served the company for 33 years, thanked the company on behalf of the recipients.

The company offers diverse services such as logistical operations, modern transport services, construction and project management services and a plethora of reputed product brands such as Caterpillar heavy machinery, Yanmar and Suzuki marine engines, Hamilton propulsion system, Castrol lubricants, Sigma protective coatings.
