Speedboat explosion preplanned: SL experts
Sri Lankan dailymail has reported that the explosion aboard the Presidential speedboat on the 28th of last month was preplanned and premeditated, citing the Sri Lankan investigators as their source.

The online reported that the explosion was not due to a technical fault in the boat’s engine as claimed earlier, but a preplanned explosion.

The Sri Lankan investigative team and two CID officers left for the Maldives on October 1st and returned back on Monday.

According to the article, the explosive was placed at the bottom of a seat in the VIP cabin.

“We believe this is not an assassination attempt but a mere warning to the President. The final investigation report will be handed over to the Sri Lankan Government today for onward transmission to the Maldivian Government,” the source reported to daily mail.

The source also said that other investigative teams such as FBI had collaborated in the investigation but only the Sri Lankan team had completed its investigations.

Two were injured in the incident, including First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim. She is still undergoing treatment.
