Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor has said that the Government had full assurance that the perpetrators of the explosion aboard Presidential speedboat will be discovered and brought to justice.
In a press conference held Wednesday in PPM office, Adeeb condemned the attack and added that the National Inquiry Commission was working to uncover the perpetrators.
He added that PPM considered this a cowardly attack and that the Government and President Yameen were constantly on the receiving end of such attacks. Adeeb said that in 2014, sugar was added to the fuel on board the Presidential speedboat which had ground the boat to a complete halt.
He said that incidents of this nature had pushed for various reforms within the security forces, especially those charged with protection of state leaders. Adeeb also said that the activities carried out by First Lady, especially those at grass roots level, had suffered immensely due to her incapacitation. He also thanked the public for the overwhelming support the First Family had gotten over the past days.
