Anaaraa calls on Govt. to adhere to human rights
Makunudhoo Constituency MP Anaaraa Naeem has called on the Government to broaden their efforts in upholding and adhering to human rights.

Speaking in Wednesday’s Parliament session Anaaraa said that the Government had an extremely ambitious economic development plan and was implementing that plan successfully. However, the human rights aspect of the nation should not be given up and should be upheld as well.

“We have to listen to the concerns of the public, more than before. This is more evident when the public feel like their rights have been breached. Citizens, all citizens, agree that Adhaalath Party President Sheikh Imran had been detained with no sentence, its been five months. He’s given the same treatment as those given guilty verdicts,” she said.

She added that even if the jail was of high standards, the detention itself was a grave injustice. “Therefore, we expect that the Government will give more importance to upholding human rights,” Anaaraa said.
