Adhaalath Party President Sheikh Imran Abdullah has been transferred to house arrest for the duration of the trial against him.
Speaking in today’s hearing, the presiding judge announced that Imran is to be shifted to house arrest after the state had failed to provide adequate medical care for him while under police custody. The judge also noted that Imran was placed under police custody after PG had agreed that they will check on Imran’s health once a day.
In today’s hearing PG lawyers had admitted that they were only able to check on Imran’s health occasionally.
Sheikh Imran’s lawyers were allowed to present evidence in today’s hearings.
The State lawyers had said that they will be submitting evidence that Sheikh Imran had called for insurrection in the May Day protests in the next hearing of the case.
