Maldives Investment Forum Concludes in Beijing today
The second Maldives Investment Forum (MIF2) concluded in Beijing today. The event which consisted of the Forum, Exhibition, a panel discussion and day case presentations was held at the Beijing Hotel and the International Convention Centre.

The Forum was officially inaugurated by Mr. Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Ghafoor, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives.
Speaking at the inauguration Vice President said that with the inauguration of the MIF2, President Yameen was fulfilling his pledge of connecting Maldivian businesses to prospective investors from friendly countries and there-by facilitating win-win collaboration.

The Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress, Madam Shen Yueyue represented the Chinese Government in the inauguration of the forum.

Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Mohamed Saeed welcomed participants of the Forum and highlighted some of the key objectives of holding the investment forum. In his remarks Minister Saeed expressed appreciation to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China for their valuable contribution in hosting the event in Beijing.

Minister Saeed also thanked the Maldives Embassy in China for their role in coordinating and facilitating MIF2 preparations in China. The Minister also highlighted the generous contributions of sponsors towards holding the forum in China. Speaking at the inauguration, the Ambassador of Maldives in China His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Faisal noted that the Embassy was working towards setting up a dedicated business help desk and a portal to facilitate commercial activities between the two countries.

Over 800 visitors attended the main Forum and Exhibition, while a number of visitors attended the public walk-in session of the exhibition in the morning. Maldives state companies and private companies, as well as some foreign companies exhibited and made presentations during the event. The Maldives Investment Forum ended with a gala dinner.

The MIF2 was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development in collaboration with the CCPIT. The Maldives Embassy in China assisted in coordinating and facilitating MIF2 preparations in Beijing.
