Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim has stated that continuous assassination attempts will only disadvantage the citizens. Speaking in VTV Fasmanzaru program, Qasim stated that if the leader of the nation was not safe and secure, then no other citizen will be safe. He said that personal and national security was vital to maintain proper trade and tourism.
Qasim noted that if the situation had taken root in the nation, then ultimately citizens will suffer the consequences. He said that he was working with the Government to ensure that the situation did not come to that conclusion.
Qasim condemned the assassination attempt on President’s life, calling it a heinous, low level and a cowardly act. He added that only those who were traitors to the nation will commit such acts and added that such acts existed only in a few countries.
He added that an incident of this nature had deeply embarrassed the relevant authorities and added that the incident was a grievous one.
Qasim said that it was imperative that such incidents have to be prevented and the perpetrators of this act be brought to justice.
