STO has reported that the company is just two pharmacies short of reaching the company’s target to open an Aasanda service available pharmacy in every inhabited island, before the end of the year.
Under the project, STO is to open 177 pharmacies this year. With the pharmacy opened on the 21st of this month, there are 184 pharmacies across the nation. However, in order to reach the target of 177 pharmacies, STO has to open two more pharmacies.
STO aims to open the remaining pharmacies by the start of November. It is expected that the company will mark the occasion. Many have commended STO for their effort in ensuring that citizens had access to medicines and the resulting benefits that occurred as a result of such an effort.
Many islands previously had no access to medicines, resulting in long trips to the nearest island or hub to purchase medications. The project, which was started when the current government came into power, had been successfully completed within a period of two years. Many have heralded this as one of the success stories of the current government.
