Expansion from 2 megawatts to 8 megawatts in two years was due to Government effort: Abdul Matheen
State Minister for Ministry of Environment and Energy has stated that expansion from 2 megawatts to 8 megawatts in two years was due to Government effort.

He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held in SHE Building to mark the World Energy Day.

Matheen said that in the past two years the Government had created 2 megawatts of clean energy. He also said that in the agreement signed yesterday for 2.5 megawatts and the 1.5 megawatts of energy currently being produced in Hulhumale’, a total of 8 megawatts of clean energy will be generated in the coming six months.

Matheen said that there was a time when the idea of clean energy was previously jeered at. However, now with the benefits of such an endeavor and the successful implementation of the project, he said that the naysayers had been defeated. He added that the projects were successfully implemented due to the hard work of the Government to serve the nation.

In the ceremony, Matheen thanked ADB, Fenaka, STELCO, Finance Minister, Ministry employees and other Government agencies for their assistance in the target.
