Nine Agenciesto Legalise Expats
Under the “Shared Responsibility Program”, Department of Immigration has given the go-ahead for nineagencies to legalise the“illegal” expatriates in Maldives.

On Monday, agreements were signed with these nine employment agencies after a thorough evaluation and screening process. According to the Immigration, these nine agencies will be able to process expatriates under this program till December.

The nine companies contracted were; Seaworld Maldives, Nooranma Travel Company, Kingfish Maldives, Sunspread Maldives, Maldives Employment Services, Quentic Maldives, All Time Lusions, IAAN Company, and Polyps.

After signing the agreement in the special event held at Velaanaage, the Immigration Controller Mohamed Anwar said that this agreement was the second phase of their program to legalise the “illegal” expatriates, enabling them to work legally in the country.

Some illegal expatriates excluded in this program are;illegal expatriateswho ran away from their employees after legally visiting the country for work, illegal expatriates who neither have a passport, ID card nor any other official means of identifying them, illegal expatriates who have been blacklisted by Immigration, and illegal expatriates who have been diagnosed with an ailment detrimental to the health of the general public.
