The development project of the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) is the biggest project of its kind, and it is going to be the best airport in this region, says the Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed
He made this statement in the ceremony held at the airports VIP, to mark Silk Air’s new route to Maldives. Silk Air is a Singapore Airline company.
Mr. Mohamed Saeed, who is also the current Chairman of the SEZ board, also said that with the new developments taking place, the airport will operate two runways and offer world class services for the airline companies and the tourism sector.
Furthermore, he also said that some people comment on Maldives being an expensive destination, but the Guest House industry has enabled budget tourism in the Maldives.
The airport development project is aimed at increasing its capacity to support more than five million travellers.
In his speech, the minister also congratulated Silk Air on the establishment the new route.
