Home Minister Umar Naseer, who also leads the inquiry commission, said that FBI stated that a Fuel Air Explosive (FAE) could have been used to orchestrate the explosion in the President’s “Finifenmaa” speedboat on 28th September.
In a press conference held at the President’s office this morning, minister Umar said FAE’s have been used in attacks and it wouldn’t require the same chemicals needed for generic bombs. So it would be more difficult to investigate such an incident with a FAE.
Minister Umar said that it was not an issue that all samples taken from the scene did not show signs of explosives. Getting a positive result from one sample will also suffice. The Saudi Arabian forensics team took six samples and found traces of RDX in one sample. This can be used as soft evidence to prosecute for this case, said the Minister.
