MNDF has issued a statement condemning the theft of arms from the armory, labelling the thieves as traitors. The statement added that the perpetrators will be prosecuted.
The statement, which was released on Monday, said that the incident had occurred after the officers in charge of the armory had gone against the MNDF code of ethics, laws and regulations. The statement described the incident as a betrayal of the nation and Force.
The statement added that the Force will be seeking the maximum possible punishment through the legal proceeding and that the investigation into the matter was already underway.
MNDF also assured that the Force had undertaken precautionary steps following the internal failure to the armory system and its procedures. The statement concluded by assuring that the gaps in the system had been addressed to and with a guarantee that such incidents will not occur in the future.
