Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has stated that the Commission had begun to implement a system whereby instead of requesting for information via letters, the Commission would go for a direct approach of orders.
A statement issued by the Commission confirmed that the rule has been in implementation from the 1st of this month onward. The statement added that the rule was enforced under the powers granted to the Commission from clause number 22 subsections (c), (d) and (e) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act.
The Commission stated that the decision was enforced in order to facilitate proper procedures for information collection and expediting the ongoing cases overseen by the Commission. Following this decision, any person or institution found to be hampering the ACC processes, procedures and investigations can be liable to prosecution under the powers granted in clause 27 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and clause 533 of the Penal Code.
