The government has said that the state of emergency declared yesterday will not hamper the daily lives of the members of the public.
The state of emergency was declared on noon, 4th of November for a period of 30 days
The state of emergency declaration was announced by Law and Gender Minister and Attorney General Mohamed Anil in a press conference held in President’s Office.
The state of emergency does not prevent citizens from travelling or prevent them from working and a curfew will not be implemented.
However, clauses such as right to assembly and right to protest have been suspended for the duration of the state of emergency. The declaration also stated that in the event of an arrest during this period, current legal procedures will be followed.
