Joint-Credit Mechanism (JCM) Promotional Seminar held today
Joint-Credit Mechanism (JCM) Promotional Seminar held today at SHE Building, Male’. This seminar was inaugurated by Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim. JCM is a subsidized scheme for promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) facilitates diffusion of leading Low-Carbon technologies, products, systems, services, and infrastructure as well as implementation of mitigation actions, and contributes to sustainable development of developing countries. It appropriately evaluates contributions to GHG emission reductions or removals from Japan in a quantitative manner, by applying measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) methodologies, and uses them to achieve Japan’s emission reduction target.

The JCM contributes to the ultimate objective of the UNFCCC by facilitating global actions for GHG emission reductions or removals, complementing the CDM.

Under this mechanism, a project to install 185KW solar PV systems in Villa college was initiated in 2014 and is expected to be completed by this year (2015).
