President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has on Wednesday ratified the ‘Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Membership Bill’, passed by the Parliament at the 15th sitting of its third session, on 12th November 2015. Following ratification, the Act has been published in the Government Gazette.
The main objective of the AIIB Membership Act is to formulate a law to ensure the Maldives’ membership of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives; and to set rules and regulations for the Maldives as a member of the AIIB.
