Thiladhekunu award given to six recipients
Six recipients from seven sectors have been awarded the Thiladhekunu award given by HDh. Atoll Council.

The awards were conferred by Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer in a ceremony held in Kulhudhuffushi Afeefuddin School. The award is conferred on individuals and organizations from the Atoll which have contributed exceptional service on an atoll and national level.

Sixteen sectors were opened for applicants, only six were fully completed. The sectors opened for applicants are, education,
production, sports, social and arts and crafts. The arts and crafts sector was further split into woodwork and iron works. The awards were titled as “Thiladhekunu Ranthari”, “Thiladhekunu Ujaalaathari OLevel”, “Thiladhekunu Ujaalaathari ALevel”, “Thiladhekunu Thoonufilithari”, “Thiladhekunu Kaamiyaabu Edhuru”, “Thiladhekunu Unmeedhee Madharusaa” and “Thiladhekunu Sharafveri Madharusaa”.

Atoll Council President Hussain Shameem said that for now the award was seen as a minor one, but assured that this will change for the better in the future He added that the atoll boasted the largest number of talent pool on a national level.

Aboobakur Ali claimed the award from the productions, Adam Mohamed won the award from woodworking sector. Adam Ismail won the award from sports and Mohamed Iqbal won the award from fisheries. Ibrahim Adam won the award from metal works, while the Hanimaadhoo Youth Organization won the awards for education and social work sector.
