High Court is to hear the appeal of the case filed against former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim on the 29th of this month.
Adam Azim, Nazim’s sibling, said that the appeal had been submitted eight months ago and the hearings had started five months ago. Azim pointed out various irregularities with the case, citing procedural irregularities and the unknown finger print found on the alleged weapon found in Colonel Nazim’s home. Azim said that the sentence was issued without answering the real questions that arise from such irregularities.
Azim also expressed concern over the lack of MNDF role in the raid on Nazim’s residence. He said that in the past few weeks, with the discovery of IEDs in Male’, MNDF role was extremely visible.
Azim said that the hope of the family was that Nazim will receive a fair hearing from the High Court.
Many commenters had expressed grave concerns over the manner in which Nazim was prosecuted.
