Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham has said that the work experience program “Dhasvaaru”, aimed at students from grade 10, will benefit the economy.
She made the statement speaking in the certificate awarding ceremony for the 168 graduates of the program, held Sunday evening.
Dr. Shiham said that talented and educated Maldivians were required for the developing economic sectors and the existing vacant jobs.
She noted that the private sector participation in the program is increasing. Dr. Shiham said that when the program was started in 2015, only 35 companies took part in the program, but the registered companies for the next year is now 40. The Minister thanked the companies for their participation.
Minister Shiham added that the Government and President Yameen placed heavy emphasis on training local youth for the economy.
Dr. Shiham said that as of now, 1152 students from 11 schools in Male’ and 144 schools in the Atolls, were currently enrolled in the program.
