President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has said that there were apparent green signals that indicate that next year will be an economic success.
He made the statement in the ceremony held to welcome two new Parliamentarians and three Councilors to ruling PPM, held Tuesday. President Yameen referred to the trip to Singapore taken by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer, citing it as a successful endeavor and as one that will bring more investment into the country.
He pledged to introduce a supplementary budget in mid-year, if all planned projects go according to the schedule. President added that this supplementary budget was not a revision or amendment to the budget but rather an opportunity by the Government to introduce a new budget.
President Yameen added that an increase in income will facilitate better outcomes for the budget.
The state had proposed a budget of MVR 27.5 billion, a sum that had not been set in the past.
