Home Minister Umar Naseer has issued a directive to Police to halt the protest of 27th November by midnight in order to secure the Artificial Beach area for the beach goers.
Minister issued the directive in a tweet posted today. Minister Umar said that the protests should be concluded by midnight, as mandated by the laws.
MDP has said that Friday’s protest will be a continuous protest, lasting for 73 hours and 13 minutes. MDP said that the protest will be centered in Artificial Beach, but if necessary will move to other areas.
Many guest houses in Male’ have raised concerns, stating that the Artificial Beach area is a popular destination among their clients along with locals. It has been reported that guesthouse owners have requested the government to find a solution to it.
