Police halt protest after participants move protest to the streets
The opposition MDP led “Minjuvaan” protests have been halted by thePolice after participants moved the protests from Artificial Beach to the streets
.
The protests began Friday evening, with MDP pledging to carry out the protests for 73 hours.

Police had halted some of the participants after they had moved along Majeedhee Magu. The protesters were halted near H. Shabnam and Police pushed them back to Artificial Beach. After that Police entered Artificial Beach area and stopped the protest that was on going in the area.

Police said that they had informed MDP that the protest can only be carried out in Artificial Beach area up until midnight. However, MDP had challenged the order, stating they will continue their protest until the Government fulfill their demands.

Even though, the protests were halted by the Police, no scuffles had erupted between the protesters and the Police.
