Agreement signed to create Islamic University Management System in six months
An agreement has been signed between the Maldives Islamic University and Malaysia’s O2U Solutions to create a Management System in the University.

Islamic University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin, Finance) Ali Rasheed signed the agreement on behalf of the University, while O2U Solution’s Sales Manager, Debbie Chan signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

Speaking to press, Islamic University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin, Finance) Ali Rasheed said that the project will be started in the first week of December and the entire project will be completed in six months.

Ali Rasheed said the System is used in Malaysia’s top universities such as Buckingham University.

He added that currently a simple system was used for administrative purposes for the 2500 students in the University. Ali Rasheed added that this was extremely difficult. He noted that with a new system, the University can operate with a lesser number of staff and serve the students better.

With the new system, Ali Rasheed said that the students will have access to an e-library and administration registration. He added that the students for the new batch in January will be registered under the new system.

“Students can apply for new courses online. They can pay their fees online from any location in the country. Lecturers have access to a lecturer’s portal, a student portal, parent portal,” he said.

Ali Rasheed that graduates can have access to a jobs portal under the system for easy access to jobs.

He added that the funds for the system were secured by the President under a special provision, which goes to show the preference the President gave to the sector. He thanked the President for his initiative in furthering Islamic education.

Ali Rasheed stated that the license for the systems were for two years, to be renewed annually. In the first year, the subscription for the service amounts to US $ 215, 400. He added that the amount was high as there were many costs in introducing the service.

However, he added that once the system was in place, the only additional costs will be the annual subscription fee. Ali Rasheed also noted that the price of subscription was dependent on the number of students and that the license was obtained based on the number of existing students.
