President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom and First Lady has started an initiative to provide a special incentive of MVR 1000 for every single mother with minors registered under NSPA.
Individuals have to submit their ID card and that of their children to qualify for the incentive. Single mothers in islands can appoint a proxy to register for the incentive.
The Presidential incentive is given to support the families before the start of the academic year 2016. The incentive is given to those mothers with children born between January 1999 and December 2012. It has been confirmed to Miadhu that the incentive will not be released from state funds, but directly from Muleeaage, under a special system.
First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim has been an active presence in the social work sector, regularly visiting hospitals and residences of those most in need of assistance.
Over a hundred single mothers had filed to receive the incentive on Wednesday.
