The Germany Embassy has announced that they will be the main partner for the ‘Katti Hivvaru’ Festival—the only event in the Maldives to bring together over 100 local artistes to collaborate on a single platform. This is also the first time that the Embassy is sponsoring such an act in the Maldives.
The event will feature a wide range of artistic genres from a pop-up art gallery to photographs and handicrafts, to musicians and poets. Organized by youth for youth, the key objective of the festival is to share, collaborate and learn in a fun and creative environment.
German Ambassador to the Maldives Dr. Jürgen Morhard said: “We are happy to support the promotion of artistes and empowerment of youth in the Maldives. It is encouraging to see young people getting involved in contributing meaningfully to the community. The creative endeavors of teenagers and young adults are a welcome stimulus to society in Malé.
“More importantly, learning to do things together on their own initiatives will be a rewarding experience for the young people as likewise promoting the harmonious values of tolerance, acceptance and mutual understanding,” said Ambassador Morhard.
Cultural Attaché Ms. Karin Grimm said: “Although artists share their space quite a lot, it is rare to see them supporting each other. We hope the Katti Hivvaru Festival will continue its efforts in nourishing a rich and verdant landscape in the minds of young Maldivians.”
The Katti Hivvaru Festival runs from 2nd – 5th December 2015 at the National Art Gallery and Sultan Park in Malé, Maldives.
