Appeal hearings for Colonel Nazim held
Appeal hearings of the sentence issued on former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim were held in High Court.

The bench that reviewed the appeal on Sunday, has been reduced to three from five judges.

In his argument, Nazim’s lawyer Husnu Suood said that Nazim had received multiple threatening calls and messages from a number in Malaysia, prior to the discovery of the weapon from his residence.

He added that Nazim had received a message from the very number following the discovery. Husnu Suood said that the weapons were discovered after Nazim had ignored the calls and messages.

A secret document, previously not submitted to discovery was presented to the Court by the State. State lawyers said that the document contained many elements that were noted after the sentence was delivered.

State had previously submitted secret documents with regards to the case against Nazim. However, those documents had not been shared with Nazim’s defense. Unlike previous times, the state lawyers had requested the bench to share the details of this discovery with the defense lawyers.

The hearings were concluded with the bench stating that a hearing of the case will be heard soon.
