Charges against former Minister dropped due to lack of evidence
The charges filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on former Minister of the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) have been dropped by the Prosecutor General’s Office, citing a lack of evidence.

The case against Mundhu was for awarding the bid of the President’s 50th Independence Day Banquet to New Port which could allow for corruption.

PG Office said that the case against Mundhu was dropped as the case was not backed by sufficient proof.

The Independence Day banquet was the most expensive banquet hosted in the nation’s history. However, the banquet was notoriously famous for the poor service, lack of food and drink and poor selection.
