Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham has stated that the Maldives is a nation that attaches a high priority and respect to cadet.
She made the statement, addressing visiting cadets from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on Tuesday evening. The visiting cadets will take part i the national cadet camp.
Education Minister said that cadetting activities inculcates ethical and good values in the cadets, teaching them team work and reliance. She said that these values are highly required for any nation.
In her address, Dr. Shiham also highlighted the close relationships formed between Sri Lanka, Bangladhesh and the Maldives, especially in the education field. Dr. Shiham especially noted the close and decades old service provided by Sri Lanka to the nation’s education sector. she said that Bangladesh was the preferred destination for many students, when it came to higher education.
The visiting cadets thanked the Government and the state institutions for the warm welcome extended to them on their trip.
In the meeting, the Minister had opened floor for the participants to ask any question from her, which was favorably received by the participants.
Sri Lanka provided the first teachers of English language and now is the home for many students completing their higher education.
