Government wishes to make Islamic Centre a world class Centre: Dr. Muizz
Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz has stated that Government wished to make Islamic Center into a grand one, remarkable across the world.

Speaking in the ceremony held to sign the MOU for MVR 1.14 million aid to marble the grounds around Islamic Centre, Dr. Muizz said that with this aid, a 500 meter area will be marbled. He added that the marbled area will be decorated on an Islamic theme.

He also said that the Islamic Center area, Republic Square and the surrounding area, will be shaded by umbrellas, modeled after the Grand Mosque in Medina.

Dr. Muizz added that the Ministry had already checked into the cost of the umbrellas and that the design will be based on a Maldivian theme.

He added that once the project was completed, 20,000 will able to pray in congregation. Dr. Muizz said that the project is a project that is extremely close to the President.
