Spokesperson at President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali, has stated that former Attorney General Aishath Azima Shakoor, is now serving as a consultant at the President’s Office.
Speaking to Miadhu, Muaz said that Azima is not serving in a political position and is not stationed at the President’s Office.
Muaz said that in her role as a consultant, Azima offers advice not just on political matters but also on a whole range of issues.
Azima is one of the most noted lawyers in the country. She was the head legal counsel in the team of lawyers that made the defense for President Yameen when he was arrested during former President Nasheed’s tenure.
She was the first defense lawyer for the now jailed former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim.
