Civil Court Judge Mariyam Nihayath has resigned. The reasons for her resignation had not been made public.
Her resignation comes amid an investigation carried out by Judicial Service Commission (JSC). JSC had not made a decision on her case.
At the time of her resignation she was under suspension.
During her tenure, she had overseen many high profile cases. Nihayath had reviewed the defamation suit against this paper’s editor; a not guilty verdict was passed in the case, which was deemed as a historic case.
