Islamic Ministry spending does not violate financial act: Auditor General
Auditor General has said the expenditures associated with the budget for Islamic Ministry in 2013 was in accordance to the financial act.

The statement released stated the ministry statements had tallied with the expense and earnings reports and that the only discrepancies had occurred only due to going against the cash accounting principles. The statement also said the budget statement was accurate as well.

The audit report had noted several issues such as mismanagement of documentation and that cash collected as zakath had not been deposited to the Finance Ministry Trust Fund. Additionally, Auditor General had noted that there was no system to determine if the zakath fund proceeds had been deposited.

In his tenure as Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed had begun work to create a system that is capable of monitoring all the processes of zakath.
