The Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H.E Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh today called on the Speaker of the People’s Majlis
Hon. Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed at the People’s Majlis.
At the meeting, Speaker Hon. Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed noted that this was the first official visit by a Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, and extended a very warm welcome to the Honourable Speaker Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh on his historic visit to the Maldives. Stating that this visit would further strengthen the existing brotherly and close relations between the two countries, Speaker Hon. Maseeh expressed deep gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the friendly people of Saudi Arabia for the continued generous assistance to the Maldives.
H.E Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh stated that he was pleased to make an official visit to the Maldives and that he was grateful for the warm welcome accorded to him and members of his delegation. He further expressed his confidence that his visit has opened up a new chapter of cooperation between the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia and People’s Majlis of Maldives and said that the Shura Council would be happy to extend assistance to the People’s Majlis.
In the meeting, both Speakers agreed to the formation of a Parliamentary Friendship Group in their respective Parliaments.
The Majority Leader of the People’s Majlis, Hon. Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, Leader and Parliamentary Group Leader of Jumhooree Party, Hon. Qasim Ibrahim, Leader and Parliamentary Group Leader of Maldives Development Alliance, Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed and Chairs of Parliamentary Committees and honourable members of the People’s Majlis accompanied the Speaker during the meeting.
H.E Mr. Bader Ali Alkahail, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, was also present at the meeting, along with other delegates accompanying the Speaker of the Shura Council
