Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar stated that the President’s escape from the explosion aboard the Finifenmaa Presidential speedboat, was a victory.
He made the statement speaking in the official ceremony held by MNDF to mark the day Maldives embraced Islam.
In his speech Minister Adam Shareef highlighted the various time Maldives was able to escape from the various challenges faced due to the faith in Islam. He added that the damages faced by Maldives in the tsunami of 2004 was significantly lesser than other nations.
“The escape from the Finifenma explosion was a victory,” Shareef said.
He added that Islam in Maldives was also a blessing and the spread of Islam was a victory as well.
In his speech, the Defense Minister also stressed that the ranks of the officers have to be strengthened as well. He also urged the officers to be more wary of various issues that causes conflicts in the religion.
