Former President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom has stated that the late state dignitary and statesman, Abdu Sattar Moosa Didi was a selfless patriot, who was always in the service of the nation.
He made the statement speaking in the memorial service held for the late recipient of the Nishan Izzuddin Honor.
President Maumoon said that in 1972, Abdu Sattar Moosa Didi was offered the position of Prime Minister. He had declined the offer, citing that he wished to remain in service to the nation.
President Maumoon also reflected on his tenure as Finance Minister, he also administered and managed the Marine Department. He said Abdu Sattar Moosa Didi’s work ethic was exemplary, noting there were no backlogs or delays.
He also noted that Abdu Sattar Moosa Didi had served in various positions in the Foreign Ministry as well as other Ministries. President Maumoon remarked that Abdu Sattar Moosa Didi’s conduct, discipline, honesty, faithfulness and sincerity were on par with none.
Noting that 2015 saw the loss of many state dignitaries such as Abdullah Hameed, Abdu Sattar Moosa Didi and Ali Umar Manik, former President Maumoon said that the year can only be seen as a year of deep sadness and national mourning.
