President sends message of sympathy to the President of Indonesia

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy ‎to the President of Indonesia, His Excellency Joko Widodo, following the bomb blast in Jakarta.

The President’s message reads as follows:

“I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the series of bomb blasts to hit Jakarta. The Government and people of the Maldives join me in condemning these heinous acts of terror in the strongest terms and express our firm solidarity with Indonesia in all its efforts to maintain national peace and to eliminate terrorism.”

“The Maldives stands firm in its commitment to supporting shared human values, and will continue to work closely with Indonesia and the international community as a whole in eliminating this global menace.”

“During this period of grief, I would like to convey my heartfelt sympathy to the Government and brotherly people of Indonesia.
