Gulhifalhu Investment’s Managing Director Abdulla Fazeel has stated that the issues that had risen between the Gulhifalhu Investments and the contractor GPD can only be resolved by entering the issue into the arbitration process.
Speaking to press today in Housing Ministry, Fazeel said that GPD had failed to meet the set schedule, adding that the only work that had been carried out was the reclamation of 16 acres of land. He added that the flats were constructed by the advanced payments taken by the citizens.
Fazeel further said that GPD had acted in poor faith.
“We have to go to Gulhifalhu to get the payment receipts. The company had refused to give out the receipts collected after depositing the cash,” he said.
Fazeel added that the flats constructed by the company were not habitable. He said that those flats in future will be turned to a city for laborers.
When questioned by Miadhu about the role of Gulhifalhu Investments in the process, Fazeel said that at the time, the Board of the Governors were not appointees of President Abdullah Yameen, but rather that of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
The citizens who had paid for flats have been waiting for six years.
