Veteran director Mohamed Niyaz (Tedry) has said that the biggest issue facing the Maldives is the issue of corruption.
He made the statement speaking in the premier of the ACC produced “Bithufangi 2” series held Monday night in Olympus.
Tedry said that this was most starkly demonstrated during the production of the script for the series. He noted that the abuse of position had reached unprecedented levels.
“Before I used to think corruption was only money. Through this project, I was made aware that abuse of power was also corruption,” he said.
He added that corruption had moved to the top spot at the biggest social evils list, toppling drugs.
In the launch, Bithufangi 2 was described as a seedling planted against ill-effects of corruption. Many who had attended the premier remarked that the issues faced by Tedry were the first sprouts of the seedlings adding that they were anticipating what the ACC would do next to combat corruption in the country.
